3*s/Donalyn Miller-This is a beautiful book about finding your identity, friendship, and the complicated relationships between sisters. Exquisite descriptions of shore life.Author of Words in the Dust-
The friendship between Indie Lee Chickory and Owen Stone is the most wonderful middle grade boy/girl friendship since Jesse Aaron and Leslie Burke in Katherine Paterson's BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA. TRACING STARS is sweet, sad, funny, suspensful, and hopeful, all at the right times and in perfect proportions. Most recommend 4th -6th. Paper $5.99

Back to the Love that Dog type of book
THis story is older, and it's told in verse, about a boy and a dog and an old man who find each other. A "sweet" story with illustrations that I think the kids would still enjoy at 4th grade. The prose ties in to core.

The Incredible Journey

Classic animal tale, still love this story. I think the kids will enjoy the adveture the animals have as they find thier way back to thier master.
